18-y-o motorcyclist Portland’s first 2014 road fatality
PORTLAND, Jamaica — An 18-year-old motorcyclist, Alexander ‘Alex’ Hue of a Kingston address, became Portland’s first road fatality in 2014 when he was killed in a crash Sunday in Orange Bay.
According to reports from people at the scene, Hue was riding his motorcycle westerly along the north-coast highway when on exiting the town of Orange Bay failed to negotiate a corner and crashed into the wall of a shop.
They said that Hue was riding with a group of five cyclists who were going at high rate of speed.
“When he collided in the shop-wall the motor bike broke into pieces, and although he was wearing a helmet, received several wounds to the head, hand and feet,” an eyewitness said.
“I was in my house and I heard the sound like someone gearing down, then an impact. When I came out I see them taking him up and him helmet and face mash up,” said another person at the scene.
Hue was rushed to the Annotto Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
