JMMC awards ceremony tonight
THE Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC) will host its annual awards ceremony at the Blue Mountain Suite of Knutsford Court Hotel, St Andrew, this evening at 7:30.
Peter Clarke, JMMC president, said he would be making a major announcement regarding to the future of Jamaica’s motorsports.
“I’ll leave the announcement for then,” he told Auto, when pressed.
The JMMC will be presenting the awards for the rally and sprint events, including the overall rallysport championship title to Daryl King.
King, who fought hard over the season to a nail-biting finale against Joel Jackson at December’s Rally Jamaica, will be handed the trophy that his late father, Raynor, and other family members have lifted. King will also receive seven other awards, the highest number for any competitor this year.
“Daryl’s achievement is something he should be very proud of and it underscores the fact that Jamaican motorsports is largely a family affair,” said Clarke.
Jackson will take home the JN8 class trophy, second place in the National Sprint and Rally Championships, plus the 2013 Stages Rally Team Award.
“Despite the challenges, we had a very competitive year and we’re looking forward to the same for 2014,” added Clarke.
