Changes to Canadian temporary resident visa fees
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Canadian High Commission in Jamaica has announced that effective Thursday February 6, fees for the Canadian temporary resident visa (TRV) programme (visitor, study permit, work permit) have been adjusted.
The fee for processing a multiple entry temporary resident visa has been reduced from C$150 to C$100, the High Commission said in a release Friday.
By harmonising the single and multiple entry visas, the visa application process will become simpler for applicants, and promote tourism and trade by increasing the number of eligible travellers who are able to make multiple visits to Canada, the High Commission said.
Multiple entry visas may be issued with a maximum validity of 10 years, or up to the expiry date of the passport, whichever comes first. Multiple entry visas allow qualified visitors to enter Canada multiple times for a maximum stay of six months at a time during the validity of the visa.
Payment of fess inside Jamaica is facilitated through direct deposit at any branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS). A receipt as proof of payment will be given, which must be submitted with the application, the High Commission explained.
Payment of fees outside of Jamaica should be done by a bank draft in Canadian dollars payable to the ‘High Commission of Canada’.
Changes to the application processing fee include an increase from C$125 to C$150 for a study permit; a work permit from C$150 to C$155; and a work permit for a group of performing artistes (three or more) moving from C$450 to C$465.
