Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s second half double ensured Arsenal returned to the top with a 2-0 home win against Crystal Palace. With fellow challengers Chelsea and Man City playing each other on Monday, the Gunners pounced to retake the lead with a dominating win.
Kolo Toure’s misplaced pass to Victor Anichebe cost Liverpool two points dropped against West Brom, after Daniel Sturridge scored early in the first half. The game ended 1-1.

10-man Barca lose top spot
Barcelona suffered their first home defeat of the season on Saturday when they lost 3-2 to the previously struggling Valencia at Camp Nou. Dani Parejo, Pablo Piatti and Paco Alcacer scored what might turn out to be the most significant trio of goals in the league this season.
Atletico duly capitalised on Barca’s hiccup by claiming top spot for the first time since 1996 with an easy 4-0 win over top team Real Sociedad. Real Madrid drew 1-1 with Athletic Bilbao to remain in third, tied on points with Barcelona.

Juve return to winning
With Roma’s match suspended due to the weather, Juventus took the opportunity to pull nine points clear of their rivals with a 3-1 victory over Inter. Lichtensteiner, Giorgio Chiellini and Arturo Vidal all scored for the Bianconeri.
A second-half brace from German Denis and another from Maxi Morales guided Atalanta to a shock 3-0 win over Napoli. Disappointingly, soft defensive errors played major roles in the concession of each goal.

Bayern dominates again
Bayern Munich has run riot on another opponent — this time it’s Eintracht Frankfurt — losing 5-0 to the champions. There was one each for Mario Gotze, Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, Dante and Mario Mandzukic.
Bayer Leverkusen had to come from behind to defeat Stuttgart 2-1 at the Bay Arena on Saturday. Forwards Stefan Kiessling and Eren Derdiyok both netted late for Leverkusen to earn a hard fought win.
