DUTTY Berry is the first to admit he is not a stand-up comedian. The social media geek, however, is special guest performer at Comedy Café’s season opener scheduled for South Beach Café in Kingston on Wednesday.

“I see myself as a person who can talk and make people laugh… I can engage an audience with a bit of humour. A stand-up comedian, ‘No’,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Dutty Berry, (given name Russhaine Berry) and in his early 20s, rose to local prominence after making weekly reviews of Tessanne Chin’s performance during her appearance on the NBC talent competition, The Voice. He would then upload his funny and quite accurate reviews to YouTube.

He said the opportunity to appear on the season opener was presented by comedic duo Ity and Fancy Cat.

“This is my test to see if I can venture outside YouTube. Nothing beats trial but a failure,” he said.

Berry joins Dr Michael Abrahams, Kathy ‘Tan Deh Deh’ Grant, and Ity and Fancy Cat.
