Price encouraged by STETHS experiment
ANDREW Price, head coach of Boys’ Town Football Club, has revealed that he was encouraged by the spectator turnout at the St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) grounds for last week’s Boys’ Town vs Tivoli Gardens Red Stripe Premier League encounter.
In fact, the coach told the Jamaica Observer that he was so impressed that he has already made plans to have at least two more games at the venue.
“It was very encouraging with the support from the spectators from St Elizabeth that we have scheduled two more games in the near future. It has encouraged us and we will go down there and continue to play games,” Price said.
However, he was quick to add that the traditional Kingston and St Andrew Football Association powerhouse would not be forsaking their roots at Collie Smith Drive.
“We are not saying that we are going to play all our home games down there, but certainly some of the marquee games that will attract good crowd support, we will play those games down in St Elizabeth,” he added.
The coach explained further that the aim for playing these games in confederations, which are without top-flight teams in the RSPL, is two-fold.
“Well, it is a two-fold goal. One is to maximise gate receipts, which we have not been able to do at Collie Smith Drive, and two, the encouragement of the St Elizabeth FA. We wanted to bring top-flight football to the parish and we were able to accomplish both goals.”
Price revealed that the two additional games slated for STETHS will be on February 23, when they face Arnett Gardens, and on March 2, when they face defending champions Harbour View FC.
