DONOVAN Duckie, the head coach of Montego Bay United (MBU) has resigned with immediate effect citing personal reasons for his departure.

Duckie, 38, told the Jamaica Observer that he tendered his resignation last Wednesday from a club that he has grown to love so much.

“I left because of personal reasons. I wish the players, staff and supporters all the best for the rest of the season,” said Duckie, a former national Under-20 head coach.

Duckie, who came to prominence in 2006 after being recruited by then technical director of Jamaica’s football programme, Velibor ‘Bora’ Milutinovic as his assistant on a tour of Asia, said he left with mutual understanding with club president Orville Powell.

“There is no bad blood between us. We are good friends and I have a lot of respect for him. It was great working with MBU,” he said.

Duckie, has so far coached at Premier League outfits, St Georges, Sporting Central Academy, Portmore United and Waterhouse before taking the reins at the St James-based club last season.

Duckie lead MBU to second spot with 29 points in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) behind leaders Harbour View with 36. They are four points clear of third-placed team Waterhouse and is in contention for a top four semi-final playoff spot.

In 17 (RSPL) games, MBU have won seven times, drawn eight and lost just twice — the least in the league. MBU have scored 17 times and have conceded the least number of goals — seven.
