Rebel promises changes
DESPITE persistent rain and complaints of long band changes, Tony Rebel, organiser of Rebel Salute, says the two-day show exceeded his expectations.
Rebel Salute was held January 17-18 at expansive Richmond Park Estate in St Ann.
“I didn’t even expect such a huge audience on the second night because of the heavy rains, but the supporters came out in their numbers,” Rebel told the Jamaica Observer.
He addressed the lengthy band changes which caused both nights to run well into the next day.
“A lot of entertainers wanted to work with their own bands, hence the regular band changes.
The changes were short but I want the fans to know that the changes were done for them and not against them. We wanted every artiste to perform at their best so the audience could get their money’s worth,” Rebel stated.
He stressed that plans are in place to resolve the frustrating issue with the introduction of a revolving stage for next year’s show. The weather, Rebel noted, was another factor in ‘Salute’ going over time.
“Because of the showers, several acts came late and their performance time had to be changed. This resulted in us going over our schedule by about two hours,” he said.
