Jamaica’s senior netball team continued its sub-par tri-nation tour of England after skidding to a 40-45 defeat to England ‘A’ in Crystal Palace yesterday.

The Sunshine Girls, who lost to the England and New Zealand senior sides in their opening two matches of the tri-nation series, were tipped to triumph in yesterday’s practice encounter against the hosts’ ‘A’ team.

However, the Oberon Pitterson-Nattie-coached side, that is said to have shooters Jhanielle Fowler and Sabrina Spence nursing injuries, trailed 7-13, 19-23, 30-33, before eventually losing by five goals.

The Jamaicans were already without promiment shooter Romelda Aiken for the trip after she was forced out due to a knee injury.

The Sunshine Girls, who are ranked fourth in the world behind top team New Zealand, Australia and England, are using the series to battle top quality opposition on overseas soil in preparation for the Commonwealth Games in the summer.

They were beaten 46-52 by New Zealand’s Silver Ferns last Friday before succumbing to a 38-46 loss to England a day later.

The national coaching staff will be looking for a positive result today when the Girls close out the series against England’s senior team.
