NZealand take lead against Sunshine Girls in tri-nation series
Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls suffered a 46-52 loss in their opening game of the tri-nation series against New Zealand at Wembley in London, England yesterday.
The Sunshine Girls, who are using the series, which also includes hosts England, to prepare for t this July’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
They trailed a the end of the first quarter 9-14, slipped further behind at the half-time break, 18-24, but maintained parity in the third quarter for a 32-38 scoreline.
Sasha Gaye Lynch suffered an ankle injury towards the end of the game when the lead was down to only three.
The Jamaicans, who arrived in England on Monday, had defeated Wales 60-25 in a warm-up exercise on Wednesday.
The Girls return to action today when they take on England.
