Two schoolgirls named for national volleyball training
TWO schoolgirls — Shenell Walker of Wolmer’s and Patrice McLean of Convent of Mercy, Alpha — have been included in a 27-member national senior volleyball squad to begin preparation for the Women’s World Championship play-offs and the Caribbean Volleyball Championships.
The play-offs are slated for Canada in June, and the Caribbean Championships are set for Trinidad and Tobago a month later.
Several big names have also been invited to the squad, and they include Kai Wright, Shedeiky Hamilton Barnes and Camile Dwyer, who are locally based. Lecia Brown, Jasime Eatman, Karensa Beckford, Gillian Asque, Simone Asque, who is now playing pro-league volleyball in Denmark, and Randi Ewing are among the overseas-based players invited to the squad.
The squad will be reduced to 22 at the beginning of April and then to 14 at the start of May when there will be a month-long training camp.
