Haute HAIR for the NEW YEAR
What’s trending for 2014? Under the Dryer award-winning stylist Marsha Robinson tells. Now that the ball has dropped, the champagne has been popped, and the resolutions have been made, it’s out with the old and in with the new. Stay ahead of the pack by styling out in one of these fresh ‘dos.
Ombré
If you missed the boat the first time, you’re in luck; the dipdyed, two-toned ombré trend is back! If you’re the type of woman who’s not afraid to show that adventurous streak, then this is the style to rock. The look is also great for going from dawn till dusk: simply wear your tresses sleek and straight for a daytime look, and switch things up with loose and wavy tendrils after dark.
Bangs
Whether side-swept, blunt, long or fringed, why not start the year off with a bang? There are tons out there to choose from. Whether you are looking for bangs to frame your face or you just want something different, it is important to choose the kinds of bangs that really work for your face. Robinson recommends the sideswept bang, a look that works even better with hair that has layers tapered along the face. With the assistance of stylist Jamie- Ann Samuels, two versions of this bang were created.
High Ponytail
Why should topknots have all the fun? High ponytails are a great way to spice up a classic go-to ‘do. Celebrities everywhere have been reinventing this humble updo to glamorous effect. Let it all hang loose, or tie it up into a gorgeous braid.
Sleek & Fab
Adding some edge to your crown by wearing bold shades is definitely one way to get noticed this year and a palette of daring hair colours awaits those so inclined. But if a fully coloured head of hair is not exactly your cup of tea, why not spice things up with some highlights?
