MONTEGO BAY, St James — International hardware supplier DeWalt has joined National Supply in sponsoring the Montego Bay Boys and Girls Club basketball and netball teams with a donation of $250,000 that was handed over at a brief ceremony held at the River Bay Road complex recently.
After an initial sponsorship of another $250,000 in May this year, National Supply along with international power tools brand, DeWalt joined with local industrial hardware supplier, National Supply to take the total package to $500,000.
Antonio Morgan, International Sales Representative for Stanley Black & Decker; Director of Sales and Marketing for National Supply, Donovan Chen See who made the presentation, said the money will assist in covering the operational costs for the Montego Bay Boys and Girls Club’ netball and basketball teams.
A release from the organisers said the presentation is a representation of the companies’ commitment to the further development of the Club, which has been in operation for just over 70 years and quoted Chin See as saying, “I’m quite impressed with this group of youngsters and as a result encouraged our supplier DeWalt to come on board and match our sponsorship, totalling $500,000.”
Morgan said his company, through the DeWalt brand is expecting a long-term relationship with the Montego Bay Boys and Girls Club, beginning with the sponsorship, the release also said.
Club Director, Patrick Clarke expressed gratitude to Stanley Black & Decker and National Supply for supporting “a club of champions”. Clarke noted that the club’s football, netball and basketball teams were unbeaten for many years, and promised that they will rise again with the support of both companies.
