Wata U-14, U-16 finalists to be known today
MONTEGO BAY, St James — The finalists in the ISSA/Wata Rural Area Under-14 and Under-16 football competition will be decided today with the semi-finals down to be contested.
Petersfield High are the only school that has a team in both sections and will host Grange Hill High in the Under-14 section and will travel to face all-island defending champions Cornwall College in Montego Bay in the Under-16 age group.
Old Harbour High and Vere Technical will meet in the other Under-14 game at the Soya Oval, while St Elizabeth Technical High and Manchester High will meet at STETHS in the other Under-16 game.
All games start at 3:00 pm with the winners set to advance to the final set for Manchester High on Thursday.
The teams advanced after finishing in the top-two in their respective quarter-finals rounds that ended last Friday
Old Harbour and Petersfield topped their Under-14 groups, while Grange Hill and Vere were runners-up, while in the Under-16 section, Cornwall College were the only team with a perfect win record of nine points to win their group. STETHS won the other ahead of Petersfield on goal difference, while Manchester High were runners-up to Cornwall College.
This will be the second time in three weeks that Cornwall College and Petersfield will meet with Cornwall winning their second round game 2-0 and will have the psychological advantage.
