PSG, Lyon team buses attacked with stones
PARIS, France (AFP) — Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon have confirmed to AFP that their team buses were both stoned on their way to the Parc des Princes for yesterday’s Ligue One clash.
“The bus was stoned and the front right window was broken,” a PSG staff member said, adding that the incident occurred near to Chaville, a town in the suburbs of the French capital.
Lyon’s press officer later added that their team bus was attacked too, saying: “Two minutes before we arrived at the stadium, a stone was thrown at one of the side windows.”
The confirmation came after Canal + television broadcast images of the PSG team bus after it had apparently been damaged.
The incident comes after a week in which the French game has been overshadowed by violent incidents.
Saint-Etienne supporters were thrown out of the Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice just before the Ligue One meeting between the clubs last Sunday, after clashes left eight people injured and caused damage within the ground.
Saint-Etienne supporters have since been banned from supporting their team away from home until the end of the calendar year.
