Disciplinary actions by the Jamaica Racing Commission
THE following disciplinary actions were taken by the stewards of the Jamaica Racing Commission arising from inquiries held on Tuesday, November 26.
Jockey Shamaree Muir, who rode Sir Von in the eighth race on Sunday, November 17, was suspended for five race days for interference caused to Lashing Force leaving the 400-metre point. The suspension will take effect on Saturday, November 30.
Jockey Dane Nelson, who rode Element Of Surprise in the fourth race on Monday, October 21, was fined $5,000.00 for failing to persevere with his mount in the final 150 metres and not reporting to the stewards the difficulties he had encountered with the horse during the race.
Jockey Ruja Lahoe who rode Stop A Gap in the 9th race on Saturday, October 19, was fined $3,000.00 for his excessive use of the whip in the final 200 metres.
Jockey Ryan Nelson who rode:
Anntrack in the second race on Saturday, November 9, was fined $4,000.00 for interference caused to Deliciosa in the vicinity of the 300-metre point, and Greater Glory in the 6th race on Sunday, November 17, was fined $2,000.00 for interference caused to Fast And Flashy in the vicinity of the 300-metre point.
Jockey Prince Holder who rode Fast And Flashy in the 6th race on Sunday, November, 17, was fined $2,000.00 for interference caused to Javine leaving the 400-metre point.
Jockey Laird Bailey who rode Apache Gold in the 9th race on Saturday, November 2, 2013, had his explanation accepted for the intimidation and interference caused to LA’s Dancer, Mumbai Maestro, Sheva’s Boy and Wild Glitz shortly after the start of the event.
Jockeys Vijay Ashley, Robert Halledeen and Renardo McNaughton, who were summoned to appear before the stewards, failed to do so. As a result, they were each suspended from riding effective Saturday, November 30, until they appear before the stewards.
