What hey Say! – Lawrence Freemantle
When did you start your career as a trainer?
I graduated from the academy on September 29, 2001, and started training my first horse, The Country, on October 13, 2001.
Which horse was your first winner?
My first winner came on October 25, when King of the Band won over the five furlong straight course.
Which horse was your longest odds winner?
My longest odds winner was Kadeen at odds of 99-1 over the straight course.
Which horse is the best horse you have trained?
I have trained some good horses – Natural Desire, Military Move, MrSkill – but I would say Mr Skill, because I got him as an unsound animal and brought him back to his class.
Which horse is the best horse you have seen at Caymanas Park?
The best horse I have seen as a filly/mare is Saint Cecelia and as a colt/gelding -The Viceroy. They were both outstanding horses as evidenced by their great racing records.
Who has influenced your career most?
Well, it’s more like the owners. It simply wouldn’t be fair for me to call specific names, so I will just say the owners that have supported me over the years. These are the men that provide you with the material as a trainer.
