St George’s dominant in U-14, U-16 categories
ST George’s College got off to a great start as the second round of the ISSA/Wata schoolboy football competition got underway recently.
In the Under-16 category, the ‘Light Blues’ demonstrated excellent form with a 5-2 win over St Andrew Technical High School. Alex Marshall was on target twice and started as early as the fourth minute, before Javon McKellar doubled their advantage in the 21st minute.
Shaquille Sayers scored a beauty to make it 3-0 six minutes later.
Spectators on the sidelines watched in rapture as Krisan Clarke drilled in number four. Marshall returned to score his second and his team’s fifth goal in the 38th minute.
St Andrew Technical regrouped at the interval and played with more purpose in the second half, which resulted in Rajaye Nesbeth cutting the deficit in the 59th minute. Tajake Stephenson further cut into the lead with a good goal 10 minutes later, but it proved too little, too late as the Georgians held off the visitors for a good win.
In the Under-14 match earlier, the Georgians were equally ruthless as they beat Penwood High 3-0. Damani Harris scored the opener in the sixth minute and returned to grab a second 15 minutes later. Jeremy Verley scored the third to seal the win after 68 minutes.
