Antigua dominates OECS Cycling
CASTRIES, Saint Lucia (CMC) — Antiguans Andre Simon and Tesheed Gordon took the top prizes in the main categories at stake as the 2013 Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Cycling Championships ended over the weekend.
Simon took the senior title and Gordon was the top junior and another Antiguan, former champion Jyme Bridges, was beaten into seventh position. Simon won the 90-kilometre event in 2:12:14, ahead of Saint Lucia’s Kurt Maraj 2:12.15.0 and Anguilla’s Justin Hodge was third in 2:12.15.7.
Gordon finished sixth overall ( 2:12,16.5), beating Saint Lucia’s Gillan Moses, 14th overall into second place among the juniors (2:14,43.5) and Zefal Bailey of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, who was 15th overall took the third prize among the juniors in a time of 2:14,43.9).
In all, 30 riders started the event and 24 finished.
