W’House crash 3-0 to MoBay without inspirational leader

MONTEGO Bay United divided Waterhouse FC into three parts without response to maintain their lead at the top of the Red Stripe Premier League by three points with a 3-0 victory at Drewsland on Sunday.
It was a pathetic display by Waterhouse, but full credit must be given to the former Waterhouse coach Donovan Duckie for out-manoeuvring his former Drewsland outfit assistants whom he upstaged with elementary down to earth tactical and technical efficiency.
Montego Bay were faster to the ball. They stuck to the essentials of good football approach by attacking with five and defending with five. It was an approach that lay bare the packing together of players in the centre of the field, while leaving their flanks exposed, and it hurt them from minute 28 when Dino Williams capitalised.
From here onward Waterhouse never recovered as four minutes after the resumption, Allan Ottey scored directly from a corner kick after stand-in goalkeeper Kelso Cousins let the ball slip from his grasp.
Even after two goals down, Waterhouse continued to pursue their short passing in the middle of the pitch until the ball was swept away by the visitors who launched another attack on their hosts’ goal that produced a third goal.
Williams, with acres of green pasture before him, fired in a low right foot shot that flew past Cousins from 25 yards to set up a memorable match-winning double strike 13 minutes from time.
“We welcome the three points… it is a game that we planned to win in order to remain ahead of the pack,” said Duckie.
Waterhouse head coach Junior Francis said, “Waterhouse did not perform as we should have.”
“This should not have been the case even without some of our most senior players (as) our reserves are a quite capable bunch to give a better performance than the one we saw,” he lamented.
Waterhouse were without the services of their inspirational striker Jermaine ‘Tuffy’ Anderson and leading goalkeeper Richard McCallum, who are both on duty in Trinidad and Tobago with the national squad.
What was quite noticeable Waterhouse did not create a single chance for scoring.
