SUNDAY racing is on again at Caymanas Park today for the third time this season, and what looks to be a fair crop of native-bred two-year-olds maidens will go post-ward in the $715,000 Abbe Grannum Memorial Cup Special weight feature of the nine-race card slated.

The Abbe Grannum has attracted a field of nine runners going 1,400 metres and is scheduled to go to post at approximately 4:00 pm with first post at 12:45 pm.

It is a race that is expected to be competitive with Seeking The Glory bay colt, Dagga Dagga Links, who has shown definite signs of ability on debut, looking set to go one better this time around.

Trained by Andrew McDonald for owner Ian Lodge, Dagga Dagga Links was well on his way to victory on debut, but with a two-length lead on the field some 200 metres out, he bled and finished 1 1/2 lengths second to the eventual winner Frangipani.

He, however, returns to the fold with Lasix administered, with Shane Ellis in the irons and, having gone through his paces for this with encouraging gallops, can make amends.

In the pretty green field where none of the runners has faced the starter more than twice before, the Shuffling Madness bay colt, Cramers Rule, ridden by Doushane Gordon looks to have a very good chance of tracking Dagga Dagga Links back to the line.

He is not alone in this respect. Israelite, the mount of Dane Nelson from the stables of Richard Azan, Sound Of Miracle with 2.0kg claiming apprentice Prince ‘Dagga Master’ Holder up, Kippytheteacher with Richard Mitchell astride, along with Bigman Ting are among a progressing lot who are expected to show greater improvement.

Another who could run well and surprise is The Chosen One. Facing the starter for the second time after dislodging his rider on debut, this not badly bred chestnut son of Traditional has look well prepared for his re-entry with Robert Halledeen replacing Richard Mitchell.
