Brazil 5 Honduras 0
Brazil showed no mercy to Honduras as they claimed a 5-0 friendly win in Miami as both teams continued their preparations for the 2014 World Cup.
The 2014 hosts were able to deal with the physical challenge provided by their opponents which saw Neymar singled out for particular attention.
Honduras were punished for a defensive mistake in the 20th minute as Paulinho claimed possession to set up Bernard and he beat Noel Valladares.
Half-time saw Robinho return to the national team for the first time in just over two years as he came on for Jo. Brazil extended their lead 10 minutes after the break when Dante headed in a Neymar free-kick.
The third goal came when a Paulinho shot was saved by Valladares but Maicon netted the rebound. Hulk came on for Neymar and provided the cross from which Willian volleyed in the fourth.
A move involving Willian, Ramires and Robinho then set up Hulk who shot home the fifth goal from close range.
Bernard, who marked his debut with a goal, said: ‘I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. I told my parents, my team-mates that the goal was coming in the right time and I only have to thank God.
‘Being in the national team is already a dream. And scoring my first goal… I’m sure everybody here with me knows how important this goal is to me.’
This was the penultimate friendly for Brazil this year ahead of the World Cup, the five-time winners facing Chile on Tuesday in Toronto. Honduras take on Ecuador in Houston.
