Manning Cup second round wraps up with two games
The second-round stage of the ISSA/LIME Manning Cup football competition will be completed with today’s double-header at the Spanish Town Prison Oval.
In the opening match at 1:00 pm, 2006 winners Bridgeport High and 2002 champions Norman Manley High meet in a Group J contest.
At 3:00 pm, Innswood High clash with Denham Town High in Group I. All four teams are already eliminated.
The Manning Cup semi-finalists, led by holders St George’s College, are all previous winners. The other three are Wolmer’s Boys, Excelsior High and Jamaica College.
Excelsior will face Jamaica College in one semi-final in a rematch of the Walker Cup Knockout clash in October, which the former won 2-0 to progress to the last four.
In the other tantalising Manning Cup semi-final, St George’s College tackle Wolmer’s Boys. A date for these games is yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, the finalists for the Walker Cup will be decided tomorrow when St George’s battle Excelsior and reigning champions Wolmer’s oppose Charlie Smith High at 1:00 and 3:00 pm, respectively.
Both KO matches will be played at the Constant Spring field.
