Watch out for Simple Rattigan
HIS vocal styling has been compared to that of the late Garnett Silk. However, it wasn’t by chance that Simple Rattigan, (given name Clifton George Rattigan) chose the route of conscious reggae to display his talent.
Now 27, the singer-songwriter explained his sojourn.
Following his graduation from Oracabessa High School in St Mary, Rattigan landed a job as a waiter at the Silver Seas Hotel in that same parish. His one-year stint at the hotel fuelled his passion for music. He would later relocate to Kingston to pursue his musical aspirations.
He landed a job as a barber to finance vocal training classes. Simple Rattigan then made his recording debut in 2009 with the track It Nuh Pretty. An official video for the track was released earlier this year.
Earlier this year he forged a professional relationship with Kevin Foote, a Jamaican who resides in Canada. Foote signed the singer to his Heart to Heart Records imprint and has been steering the singer’s career since.
Foote has been instrumental in the process of Simple Rattigan’s debut album which is almost complete.
