Murder of St Elizabeth businessman a contract killing, police surmise
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Police investigators believe the gun murder of 58-year-old poultry farmer and businessman Lenford Ulett at Braes River on Thursday afternoon was the result of a contracted hit.
“No two ways about it, this was a hit,” a reliable police source told Online Observer.
Police say the owner of the vehicle — a Toyota Fielder — used by the killers was traced to May Pen in Clarendon. The owner has been taken into custody in Clarendon, police say.
Reports from police and residents in Braes River, about four miles north east of Santa Cruz, say that at about 4:00 pm Ulett who resided in neighbouring Goshen was buying poultry feed at a farm store when armed men drove up.
Reports say Ulett ran on seeing the men. He was chased and shot multiple times by two men.
Reports say Ulett was originally from Clarendon but took up residence in Goshen sometime ago.
