Titchfield score easy win over Clarendon College
TITCHFIELD of Portland defeated Clarendon College 43-19 as the second round of the 2013 ISSA/Digicel Rural Area High School Junior and Senior League netball competitions got under way at The Queen’s High School Courts yesterday.
The Portlanders, coached by Winston Wilson, maintained their unbeaten run after topping Zone L of their preliminary round. Titchfield led throughout the four quarters after a slow first quarter in which they only led 9-6.
In the last three quarters, Titchfield applied more pressure on their opponents, leading 22-11 at the end of the second quarter. Their shooters Tanielle Lee and Sherifah McKessie outscored Clarendon College 17-12 for a lead of 39-18 at the third quarter break before pulling away to the easy win.
Goalkeeper Tisje Brown played a key role in defending well and also restricting the Clarendon shooters from scoring on many occasions with her neat blocking and interceptions.
Meanwhile, Titchfield juniors also kept their unbeaten winning streak intact with a 33-13 win over Claude McKay High, also at the Queen’s Courts.
Titchfield have not lost a game since the season, but drew with Yallahs in the preliminary round.
