Chin wins celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament
TRYALL, Hanover — Paul Chin is the winner of the inaugural Anthony Anderson Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament, which teed off at the Tryall Golf Course as a part of the Ocean Style Fashion weekend on Sunday.
Chin amassed 33 points, followed by second place winner and former Jamaica and West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Jeffrey Dujon with 30 points, while Tom Jaronski, with 29 points, finished third.
Longest Drive was won by Flex Alexander, Straightest Drive Tony Charley, while Anderson won the Closest to Pin.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the team of Anderson and Eric Dickerson, which amassed 74 points, won the first gross.
Afternoon showers resulted in the tournament coming to a premature end on Saturday.
Anderson, who has been onboard for three of the five Ocean Style stagings, has committed his continued support of the event.
“I will be back next year. This is my third of the five years since it has been going on. Douglas (Gordon, Ocean Style Magazine’s editor-in-chief) and I sat down and tried to do something different you know… get a little more golfers involved who want to play the game and we came up with it,” Anderson told the Jamaica Observer on Saturday.
“It was a great time out there. The rain did not discourage anybody from coming in. It slowed us down a bit, but we were able to finish so we had some fun,” said the comedian and actor.
Meanwhile, Gordon was also satisfied with the staging of the event.
“This is an outstanding golf course and I know that the celebrities and other players went out and had a good time,” he said.
