Walker dominates to maintain lead in jockeys’ race
It was the obvious calm at Caymanas Park yesterday before what is expected to be quite a storm next Saturday when it will be time for the 2103 renewal of Superstakes Day.
As such there was not much to excite racing fans who made it to the Park and the network of Offtrack Betting Parlours across the island. The calm was, however, seized by leading rider Omar Walker, who started the day three in front of his main rival Dane Nelson. Walker, who has been relatively quiet in recent race days, rode a triple, while Nelson could only get one winner across the winning post.
Walker’s winners were St Mary, in the feature race, the Alty McKenzie Memorial Cup, Shade of Beauty for trainer Patrick Lynch, and Lady Sharvani for Gary Subratie, who was also breaking a lean spell.
Nelson did the job on Morebulletstofire for Nicholas Edwards. Lynch was the top trainer on the day with two winners.
All is now set for Saturday’s Superstakes Day sponsored by TALAWAH.
