Dominant Queen’s into ‘quarters’ of junior, senior leagues
DEFENDING champions The Queen’s School will enter the quarter-finals in defence of both their Junior and Senior Leagues in the 2013 ISSA/Digicel Urban High Schoolboys’ netball competition this afternoon at the Leila Robinson Courts.
The defending champions who are unbeaten in both categories will first meet Tarrant High in the juniors at 2:00 pm, while their seniors go up against Excelsior High at 2:45 pm.
Marvette Anderson, coach of Queen’s, will be looking for other impressive wins against their rivals, having defeated them heavily in their preliminary rounds meetings.
Meanwhile, coach of Tarrant Cecile Knight, will be looking to have an outstanding game with the defending champions as her team has been playing very well and is looking to begin the second round on a winning note.
The quarter-finals groupings in the Junior League are: GROUP 1 — St Hugh’s High, St Catherine High, Norman Manley High, Alpha Academy, Gaynstead High and Camperdown High; GROUP 2 — Queen’s School, Hydel High, Bridgeport High, Tarrant High, St Jago High and Meadowbrook High.
Senior League: GROUP 1 — St Andrew High, Holy Childhood High, Camperdown High, Norman Manley High, Ardenne High and Mona High; GROUP 2 — The Queen’s School, StCatherine High, St Hugh’s High, Excelsior High, St Jago High and Alpha Academy.
Each school will play opposing teams on a round-robin format where the winners and runners-ups from each of the groups will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for Wednesday, November 20.
