TG flow into Champions Cup final with 5-0 thumping of Arnett
DEFENDING cham-pions Tivoli Gar-dens flowed into the Flow Champions Cup Knockout final by hammering 10-man Arnett Gardens 5-0 in the first of two semi-finals played at Drewsland last night.
At press time the second game between Waterhouse and Harbour View was yet to kick off.
Tivoli Gardens, who have won the Flow Champions Cup three times, took little time in settling down and grabbed the lead in the 15th minute after winning a free kick just outside the area.
A low, bending effort by Keammar Daley stunned Arnett Gardens into silence, and before they could gather their wits about them, Daley was at it again when he found the back of the Arnett Gardens net three minutes later.
The Tivoli Gardens midfielder ran the full length of the Arnett Gardens half to beat goalkeeper Damion Hyatt to his right, as he did in the opening goal. Minutes later Newton Sterling rose above the Tivoli Gardens defence to get a clear header, but he missed the mark by some degree.
Ten minutes from the break Hyatt made a brilliant stop at the foot of his near post to keep the score at just 2-0. However, six minutes from the interval the Arnett Gardens let through Kemar Flemmings to put Tivoli three goals up.
Arnett Gardens, in an attempt to stem the flow, made a double change for the second half, but five minutes into the session defender Jameel Thompson punished them once more to make it 4-0 with a headed goal away from Hyatt.
Arnett Gardens went down to 10 men in minute 75 after Andre Dyce received his marching orders for a second bookable offence and five minute later second-half substitute Dwayne Smith made it 5-0.
