George’s thrash Vauxhall 5-0
ST George’s College comprehensively thrashed Vauxhall 5-0 at Winchester Park yesterday to claim the top spot in Zone D with 26 points in the preliminary round of the 2013 ISSA/Lime Manning Cup football competition.
After loosing nine of their stars from last season, the Neville Bell-coached St George’s were not given much of a chance to advance this far in the Manning Cup. But if yesterday’s result and display are anything to go by, this group of youngsters looks to be going places.
Although Vauxhall are obviously talented, they appeared aimless yesterday, giving the Light blues shooting practice that saw Ryan Miller logging a double strike in the 50th and 90th minutes.
This was after Gregory Messam Jnr had opened the scoring in the 19th minute to go to the break leading 1-0.
On the resumption, the floodgates opened with Miller’s first goal, followed by Shevon Stewart in the 55th and Oshane Boothe two minutes later.
In other games, Charlie Smith defeated Donald Quarrie 4-0 to join St George’s at the top of the zone with 26 points. However, St George’s have a superior goal difference.YESTERDAY’S RESULTSTODAY’S GAMES:All games are scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm
