CRUCIAL GAME!
TUCKER, St James
Montego Bay United (MBU) and Holland United of Trelawny will meet in the second round of the Flow Champions Cup Knock- out at the WespoW Park this afternoon starting at 3:00pm, with their eyes set on a place in the quarter-finals.
These two, along with Reggae Youths of St James, who were away to Axum Sports Club at Greys Inn yesterday, were the only western teams to survive last week’s first round.
Savannah SC and Sandals Whitehouse both of Westmoreland, and Bamboo FC of Hanover, were all eliminated after their first games.
Montego Bay United advanced after an easy 5-0 win over KSAFA team Rockfort United, while Holland beat Savannah SC 2-1 at Frome, despite playing with 10 players from the 23rd minute after Omar Scott was sent off.
Scott will miss today’s game against MBU as a result of the red card.
Despite opening their Premier League account with a 1-0 loss to Tivoli Gardens in Kingston on Sunday, MBU will start favourites to advance today against the Holland United team that just managed to maintain their place in the Western Confederation Super League last season, after finishing in fifth place.
The Tivoli game was the only one that MBU has not scored in since the start of the pre-season, and they should be seeking to return to their free scoring ways.
Coach Donovan Duckie will have a number of striking options at his disposal including Dino Williams and Lesley St Fluer, both of who came off the bench last week.
Jefroy Leslie, Ronaldo Rodney and Allen Ottey were the starters last week, but whoever Duckie selects today should be good enough to get them through to the next round.
