PCJ offers tips, advice on energy use at MoBay Expo
CONSUMERS and business operators who need advice and information about utilising alternative energy can visit the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica’s (PCJ) booth at the Jamaica Alternative Energy Conference and Expo scheduled for September 20 and 21 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St James.
The PCJ’s interactive booth will provide easy-to-understand information for consumers and business operators who might be thinking of utilising alternative energy. The display will include advice and tips on setting up a Solar PV System, choosing a solar water heater, integrating renewable-energy equipment into building designs and more.
The PCJ will also be distributing a step-by-step guide on netbilling for any individual or entity interested in selling electricity to the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) Grid.
Visitors to the PCJ’s booth will also be able take advantage of the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Calculator which uses information from current JPS bills to determine the best size PV System for a home, business or any other facility.
“We are aware that alternative energy is a new frontier for most consumers, and so the PCJ is there to provide advice for individuals and business operators who are trying to make sense of it all,” said Dr Peter Ruddock, the PCJ’s manager, renewable energy & energy efficiency.
“Anyone who needs help sorting through all the information they’re receiving from various service providers can come and talk to us,” he added.
The Jamaica Alternative Energy Conference and Expo will provide a one-stop-shop where consumers can learn about alternative energy and interact with various players in the growing renewable energy industry including product and service suppliers as well as financial institutions providing loans for alternative energy related purchasing and procurement.
