It proved to be quite an easy stroll for 4/5 favourite Insane Bolt in the feature Terremoto trophy event at Caymanas Park, yesterday.

With a confident Dick Cardenas in the saddle, Insane Bolt stalked the leader and the horse, which took his number on debut Blade Runner (Richard Mitchell) before attacking at the top of the straight. That was enough, as the Shuffling Madness two-year-old bay colt simply moved away to score by over two lengths in a good final time of 1:00.3 minutes. Mom’s Rules (Aaron Chatrie) ended in second position with Blade Runner third.

Insane Bolt, who was winning his second race from three starts, provided Cardenas and champion and leading trainer Wayne DaCosta with their second victory on the 10-race programme, having scored with Jack De Charmer in the day’s first race.

While Insane Bolt won the feature race on the day, all eyes were fixed on the return of the Gary Subratie-trained duo of City Flight and Noon It Is. Both were returning from long bouts of illness, and it showed, especially in the running of the hitherto unbeaten filly City Flight.

City Flight, after leading from the off, floundered badly in the straight to finish well behind eventual winner Palace Gold with Robert Halledeen on board. Noon It Is (Chatrie), came on strongly in the straight after failing to go with the torrid early pace set by City Flight and just lost on the line. It was a spanking win for Palace Gold, trained by Howard Jaghai after a lacklustre run when last at the races. Palace Gold won in the impressive time of 1:05.3 minutes.

A major talking point at the track was the upset win by Gold Runner (Jevvanne Erwin) at odds of 99/1, returning a win dividend of $4,678.00.
