LIME plans to bring back glory days to schoolboy football
On the heels of their $150-m sponsorship deal with the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA), telecommunication provider LIME has vowed to bring back the glory days to schoolboy football.
LIME’s vice president marketing, Carlo Redwood, a past student of Wolmer’s Boys’ School — winners of the Manning Cup on 10 occasions — said LIME intends to add value to any project they get involved with, and there will be a concerted effort to bring out the crowds.
“We are on a mission to bring back the glory days to schoolboy football, while we deliver superb innovation to what is arguably the most highly anticipated competition in Jamaica,” said Redwood.
“There is no doubt that footballers and football fans of every generation will be pleased with the first-class executions we intend to infuse in this and future seasons of the competition,” he added.
He pointed to plans that LIME has to enhance the way high school football is presented, which will include cheerleaders, drummers in the stands and half-time activities with the LIME endorsers.
Redwood also highlighted that LIME will be working with ISSA and the other stakeholders to activate initiatives over the next five years to reinvigorate the overall football product.
“This sponsorship represents part of LIME’s continued goal of bringing value to Jamaicans by delivering activities that they love, while connecting our brand with an activity that is ingrained to Jamaican life,” said Redwood.
LIME is expected to add value to the opening ceremony and games scheduled for today at Montego Bay.
The opening ceremony will feature a musical interlude with performance from the Sam Sharpe Marching Band and half-time shows for the matches. The half-time shows will be emceed by LIME brand ambassador and comedian, Pretty Boy Floyd.
