The Movements continue
MOVEMENTS Dance Company’s 32nd Anniversary Season will take place under the theme Rite of Time at the Little Theatre this weekend September 6- 8..
This season will feature new works choreographed by company stalwarts, Christopher Huggins, artistic director Monica Campbell McFarlane, and Patrick Johnson in addition to remounts from the Movements repertoire.
According to Campbell McFarlane, Rite of Time aptly describes the direction being undertaken by the company as it embarks on a new phase. Included in this process is the elevation of a new generation of talented artistes to leadership positions. They include Leesa Kow, who has been appointed assistant artistic director. Michelle Morrison has also been appointed to the board of management, and Jade Arscott has assumed responsibilities as ballet tutor of the company.
Movements Dance Company, the second- oldest dance troupe in Jamaica, was founded in 1981 by four former members of Eddie Thomas’s Jamaican Dance Company — Monica Campbell McFarlane, Pat Grant-Heron, Michelle Lee, and Denise Desnoes.
