Sandals age-group football tourneys on final leg
MONTEGO BAY, St James — The finalists in both the St James Football Association Sandals Under-17 and Under-20 competitions will be confirmed today after four games, two in each competition at the UDC Field, starting at 10:00 am.
Cornwall College, who have won all five games without conce-ding a goal, have already secured their place in Thursday’s final of the Under-17 competition, while Green Pond and Club Stars — tied on points and goal difference — will seek to join them.
Today, Club Stars will face winless Better Tomorrow in one Under-17 game, while Cornwall College will take on Green Pond in the other game.
Earlier, Cornwall had beaten Green Pond 2-0 in the opening game for both teams, while Club Stars had beaten Better Tomorrow 3-0.
The odds are for Club Stars to advance given Better Tomorrow are yet to score a goal in four games.
Meanwhile, in the Under-20 competition, Club Stars who beat Salt Spring United 1-0 on Saturday, will face Spot Valley in the second of two
semi-finals today.
In the first game, Reggae Youths and Irwin FC will face off for a place in the finals set for Thursday.
