National TT club league serves off mid-September
THIS year’s Jamaica Table Tennis Association National Club League is set to serve off in mid-September.
The league is returning after a two-year absence with the same format, with play in five categories — Divisions One, Two, Three, Four, and women’s. Home and away matches will be played in the preliminary rounds until about mid-December, when the top finishing teams will meet for play-offs in quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.
Winners in 2010 when the league was last contested were Furia for Division One; UWI for both the women’s and Division Two; Juici Patties for Division Three, and Windalco Kirkvine Sports Club for Division Four.
Eleven clubs with a total of 35 teams have so far entered this time around, with six teams in Division One, seven women’s teams, six Division Two teams, 10 Division Three teams, and six Division Four teams. Returning clubs entered are University of Technology, Jamaica Defence Force, University of the West Indies, Pembroke Hall, Athletico Port Antonio, Juici Patties, and a number of clubs from Portland.
New clubs are Kingston-based Infinity, Angels from Spanish Town, and Mandeville-based Super Plus Food Store.
