Two set early pace in Sandals Business House football
Grand Bahia Principe and St Ann Development Company (SADCO) are the current leaders of Zone B, while defending champions Couples Sans Souci continue to dominate Zone A, in the Sandals St Ann/ St Mary Business House Football Competition.
Couples Sans Souci remain unbeaten, chalking up three wins against one draw, including a 3-0 win over highly-touted Beaches Boscobel. The defending champions are on 10 points and are trying to cement themselves as the team to beat in the competition.
Early front-runner SADCO saw their unbeaten run come to an end when they were edged 1-0 by Gran Bahai Principe. With the win, the Spanish hotel now joins SADCO on top of the zone with nine points each.
In action on Tuesday, Jewels Dunn’s River and Sunset Jamaica Grande played to an exciting 0-0 draw. Both teams played attacking football, but excellent defensive work and fine goalkeeping kept a clean score sheet.
In other matches, Couples Tower Isle defeated Golden Eye Resort 4-1; Riu Ocho Rios and Jewels Runaway Bay drew 1-1 and Margaritaville stopped Royal DeCameron 2-1.
Chairman of the St Ann/ St Mary Business House Competition Danny Beckford said he was pleased with the standard of play in the competition so far.
“Teams have been playing exciting, attacking football and the spectators have been full of praise for what has transpired. As the competition picks up steam we expect an even more exciting event,” Beckford noted.
Sandals Regional Public Relations Manager Ian Spencer, speaking on behalf of the sponsors, said he was happy with “the level of discipline exhibited by the teams involved”.
The competition continues today with Couples Tower Isle going up against Couples Sans Souci at 4:00 pm at Drax Hall.
