UTech, Trelawny Parish Council stage football extravaganza
KNOWN for its outstanding achievements in sport, the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech), in collaboration with the Trelawny Parish Council, will host a football extravaganza at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium, next Thursday.
The football extravaganza is one of the featured activities associated with UTech Day in Trelawny. Other initiatives for the day include the official opening of UTech’s administrative offices at the Baptist Manse in Falmouth, for its Western Jamaica campuses, and health treatment for the patients at the Trelawny Infirmary.
The feature match, which kicks off at 4:00 pm, will see UTech up against Trelawny’s most celebrated and former Premier League team, Village United. But the day’s action on the football field starts at 10:00 am with four high school teams, William Knibb, Muschette and Cedric Titus from the home parish, and Herbert Morrison from St James, vying for the Mayor’s Cup. Their encounters will be followed by the UTech female team tackling the Trelawny female team.
The day’s sporting activities at the stadium are free to the public. Off-field juggling is by Xtreme Sound Station and there will be lots of prizes and giveaways, as UTech takes over Trelawny.
