Bolt, Weir, Ashmeade: 1-2-3 in Worlds 200m final?
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica is vying for another 1-2-3 finish in a major men’s 200m final at 11:10 Saturday morning led by the fastest man on earth Usain Bolt, Olympic bronze medallist Warren Weir and Nickel Ashmeade at the World Championships in Moscow, Russia.
At the Olympic Games last year Bolt, Yohan Blake and Weir gave the island unprecedented glory copping gold, silver and bronze over the distance.
Going for the Worlds 2013 sprint double Bolt runs from lane 4, Ashmeade is in lane 6, and Weir starts from lane 8.
Meanwhile, in a quest to increase Jamaica’s medal tally from the five recorded up to Friday, Day 7, three athletes are competing in the women’s 100m hurdles semi finals starting at 9:20 am.
Andrea Bliss in Heat 1 starts in lane 2, Shermaine Williams in Heat 2 runs in lane 8 and her younger sister National champion Danielle in the third and final heat is in lane 9.
The first two in each heat and the two fastest losers progress to the final later Saturday at 10:50am Jamaica time.
