Perfect Day gives Subratie first Trini win
TRAINER Gary Subratie got off to a winning start in his Trinidad and Tobago training career when his three-year-old filly Perfect Day easily won over six furlongs in a non-winners of two contest on Saturday last at the Santa Rosa racetrack in Arima, in Trinidad.
Ridden by W Galviz, Perfect Day, who allowed weight all-round handily disposed of rivals by four and a half lengths in a respectable time of 1:12.2. Perfect Day (Distorted — Valor’s Star) is owned by Baskaran Bassawh, who moved all his horses from Jamaica to Trinidad after the running of the Jamaica St Leger.
“This was a most encouraging win by Perfect Day. The win demonstrates that she has progressed well, and her improvement is quite visible with every race. Her next assignment will now be the Trinidad and Tobago Oaks later this month,” trainer Subratie said.
Subratie’s other charge in Trinidad, Big Man In Town is expected to race tomorrow in the equivalent of non-winners of three event over one mile.
Jamaica had cause to further celebrate on the eight race Santa Rosa programme when the HAM stables-bred Tennessee Hustler also won over six furlongs in a race for three-year-olds and over horses rated 70-55. Tennessee Hustler, a bay filly by War Marshall — Sunny Del, was ridden by J Stephen and is trained by D Ojar.
