Jamaica into men’s 4x400m final Bahamas out
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s men’s 4X400M relay team won the first semi-final in a short lived world leading 3:00.41 in Moscow, Russia Thursday morning.
Jamaica’s Rusheen McDonald, Javere Bell, Edino Steele and anchor man Javon Francis beat Great Britian, who finished in 3:00.50, a season’s best.
Venezuela finished third in a season’s best time, (3:02.04) beating Japan (3:02.43), also a season’s best.
But the US hit back immediately after in the second of three heats clocking a brisk 2:59.85 and new world leading time.
Trinidad finished second in 3:00.48, a season’s best, followed by Belgium (3:00.81), also a season’s best. Brazil, Poland, Ukraine and Kenya all achieved season best times in this heat.
The Russians fought to win the third semi-final 4x400m heat, running a season’s best 3:01.81, the slowest winning time of the three races.
Australia placed second in a season’s best 3:02.48, followed by Germany, 3:02.62, season’s best.
Strong pre-race contenders The Bahamians were fourth and out of the final.
The first two teams of each heat and the two fastest losers qualify for the final scheduled for tomorrow, August 16 at 12:30 PM.
