Jamaica out of men’s 400m final, five hurdlers in semis
MOSCOW, Russia — Jamaica will not add to its medal tally on today’s fourth day of the 14th IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia after the three 400m runners all failed to get pass the semi-finals on Day 3.
However five intermediate hurdlers, three men and two women will be seeking places in the finals of the 400m event set for Thursday.
Nickeisha Wilson and Ristananna Tracey will contest the women’s semi-finals set to start at 10:05pm Jamaica time. The first three from each heat and the two fastest losers will advance.
Wilson is drawn in the first heat running out of lane seven and will have Olympic Games bronze medallist and World Leader Zuzana Hejnova in her heat.
Tracey, a semi-finalist in Daegu, South Korea two years ago will contest the second of the two semi-final heats that looks like a finals line up of a major championships with the likes of Olympic champion Natalya Antyukh of Russia, Great Britain’s Peri Shakes-Drayton and American Lashinda Demus.
On the men’s side, Isa Phillips runs in the first semi-final where he will match strides with American Bershawn Jackson, Trinidad’s Jehue Gordon and Puerto Rico’s Javier Culson.
Olympic finalist Leford Green is in the second semi final heat with American Michael Tinsley while newcomer to the event Annsert Whyte is in the third semi-final where he will go up against Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic and Kerron Clement, the third American in the event.
