Defending champ Hardee of US falters in decathlon
MOSCOW (AP) — Two-time defending decathlon champion Trey Hardee of the United States failed to clear a height in the high jump Saturday and was out of contention at the world championships.
The Olympic silver medalist missed all three attempts at 6 feet, 2 3-4. Entering the high jump, he was fifth after three events. It wasn’t clear if he had been injured or if he’ll continue the competition.
Jeremy Taiwo of the United States didn’t start the high jump. He was 18th after the first three events.
