Ja to host FIFA Futuro 111 referees’ course
JAMAICA will host a FIFA FUTURO 111 Course for referee instructors and referee fitness instructors from the Caribbean during the period today through next Tuesday.
The course for referee instructors focuses on the education of member associations’ instructors in refereeing. Referees who are selected to attend are responsible for the instruction and education of the top referees and assistant referees in their country.
The course for the fitness instructors focuses on the education of member associations’ instructors responsible for the fitness preparation of referees.
This is the fifth consecutive year that FIFA has selected Jamaica as the host country for this course. The course will be held at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa (Montego Bay) in the Rose Hall Conference Room.
Thirty-five participants from The Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and the USA will participate.
The course will be guided by: Fernando Tresaco, refereeing development senior manager, FIFA (Spain), and he will be assisted by Brian Hall, director of referee administration, CONCACAF (USA); Alfredo Whittaker, head of refereeing, CFU (Cayman Islands); Peter Prendergast, FIFA refereeing development officer (Jamaica); Hector Vergara, FIFA instructor (Canada); Stanley Darville, FIFA instructor (The Bahamas); Alan Brown, FIFA instructor (Costa Rica).
The opening ceremony for the course will take place at 2:00 pm today in the Rose Hall Conference room.
Those addressing the participants will include President of the JFF, Captain Horace Burrell, and Fernando Tresaco.
