Santos drubbed Packers 5-1 at the Bell-Chung Oval last Sunday to open their new season in Zone ‘A’ with the largest margin of victory in the Kingston and St Andrew Master’s League Football Competition.
Harbour View, who opened the new season with a win the previous Sunday, went down 1-3 to first round losers Eastern at Winchester Park, where Maxfield also clipped St George’s 2-1 in the second game of a double header.
Harbour View opened their season with a 2-0 win against MV Exodus, but somehow fell down on Sunday. Nonetheless, it was Harbour View, who opened the scoring through Cory Rowe in the 53rd minute. However, Eastern sprang to life with goals from Vernon White in the 66th and 81st minutes with the other goal coming from Alrick Russell in the 66th minute to clinch victory.
At Duhaney Park, Howard Trought wasted no time in putting visitors Real Veterans ahead from the penalty spot in minute 12. Five minutes later Mark Henry scored for Park Rovers to even the scores at 1-1, and continued to dominate play but the visitors’ goalkeeper Kevin Ramsay showed a safe pair of hands to blunt Park Rovers’ repeated attacks.
With 12 minutes of time remaining and against the run of play Marlon Barclay got around Park Rovers’ defence to give Real Veterans their first win from two games.
