Sandals Independence Classic tees off this weekend

THIS weekend, golfers will tee off at the Sandals Golf & Country Club in the Independence Classic.

The tournament will be conducted in flights, with players competing according to their handicap categories.

Among those in the line-up are Sandals-based Gifford Wilmot, Zandre Roye and national representative, Philip Prendergast. The Super Senior category will see the likes of Dennis Atkinson, Maurice Foster, and Fred Sutherland.

Peter Chin, Dave Lyn and Teddy Richards are new additions to the Super Senior category. A strong contingent of junior players from the Sandals Golf & Country Club will also be in contention for prizes.

The national team to the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships also departs this weekend and is expected to do well in the US Virgin Islands in competition next week.
