St James D2 champs to be decided today

MONTEGO BAY, St James — The champions of the St James Football Association Guardian Life Division Two will be decided today when Clubs Stars FC and Heights FC meet at the UDC; starting at 3:00 pm.

The teams had played out a 0-0 draw in their first leg game at the UDC field last Thursday and will have it all to do today in the winner-takes-all affair.

Today’s game is a play-to-finish, which means that if 90 minutes of regulation fail to produce a winner, extra time and if necessary penalty kicks will be used to separate the teams.

After last Thursday’s cautious affair, it is hoped the teams will revert to their semi-final form that saw them outscoring their opponents in high-scoring ties to earn a place in the final.

Club Stars outscored Somerton 4-3 in their semi-final tie, while Heights edged Faulklands 3-2.

Both teams have earned automatic berths to the Division One competition next season after qualifying for the final.
