Teen Boyz get ready for CONCACAF U-15 champs
Jamaica will continue preparations for the Inaugural CONCACAF Under-15 Boys Championship with the staging of a training Camp which was due to kick off yesterday through to Sunday.
Twenty-two nations from across the region will take part in the tournament introduced by CONCACAF in an effort to develop youth players and teams across the region. The tournament will take place in the Cayman Islands, August 13-25.
Participating teams are Aruba, Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Puerto Rico, St Kitts, St Lucia, St Martin, St Maarten, St Vincent, Trinidad and Tobago and US Virgin Islands.
The tournament format aims at the development of the youth players and guarantees that each team will play a minimum of five games. The winners of each of the four groups will advance to the semi-finals.
Jamaica are drawn in Group B alongside Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Grenada, St Lucia and Belize and play their first game on August 13 against Grenada.
The teams are vying for the U-15 CONCACAF Champions Trophy.
Jamaica’s national Under-15 coach Fabian Davis and other members of the technical staff have been scouting talent at the parish level in the JFF National Under-13 and Under-15 leagues, as well as KSAFA trials which are also ongoing. .
The squad called to camp trains at 9:00 am and 4:00 pm today and 9:00 am tomorrow at the JFF Technical Centre at the Mona Bowl.
